tie rod
hey, i have a 1991 gt and i snapped the tie rod on it running over a sign. i got the tie rod end off, but i cant get the part where the ball joint is connected to the rack off. it is hard to get to and i dont know if there is anything holding it on. the chilton manual didnt help. any advise is greatly appreciated. thanks.

well you ahve to take off the boot that covers it, then its a big wrench size like 24mm, I think, maybe, but once you get that boot off its just a matter of wrenching off the tie rod. hope your keeping track of how far the tie rod and tie rod end were on there. some people use paint markers to mark where they were so they can put them back on to the right spot, but I count how many full turns it takes to get them off.
