quick

hey ppl its 7:33am here now if its past 12 noon dont bother replying

anyway i have a cadillac catera (catera forums is dead, but need help)

my catera got in a slight wreck i fixed the front end and put the eng back together yesterday (hasnt been started in a year) but when i fired it up...it smoked like a muh fucker, is this because of condensation (spelling) or anything? is it normal or is it bad?

i talked to a mec there and he said it could be because it sat or it could be the coolant leaking into the eng??

he said come back today run it for like 45mins and see if it stops smoking...and if it dont theres something really bad wrong with it.

Re: quick

could be water in the gas, or blown headgasket. Check for oil in the coolent?

Re: quick

my radiator doesnt have an opening, u can only put it in thru the overflow...so i cant check that....i did check the oil it was up to level...so could it be from just sitting too long? what would happen say if it was oil in coolant and i still drove it? what would it do too it? and would it smoke the whole time i drove it?

Re: quick

oil in coolent is a blown headgasket, will lead to overheating cracked/warped head and/or block... should be fixed if thats what it is. If its has the same gas in it for a year I'm willing to bet thats why its smoking.

Re: quick

syphine it out, but it probably has a screen on the tank so you cant get a hose in it. You can buy stuff called Heet that removes the water, about $3 a bottle, any parts store will have it, and even places like Wal-Mart.

you can also go the a gas station that sells "gasahol" and put a gal or two in the tank(or more)
the alchohol in the fuel will dry your tank out too, gas dryers are mainly alchohol

If you have some golden grain or everclear(190proof or better) around the house put about 1-3 cup per tankfull(depending on the size of your tank) of normal gas
( then you have made your own gasahol, which I think is actually 10% alchohol)

I didnt say fill your tank with alchohol

I said add a small amount to the gas tank
which is EXACTLY what you do when you add any drying treatment(incl the heet that was happily recomended)

ps
you can drink it too, unlike heet
