1992-1995 Vin W CPI Injector Leak Photo

Just saw this in another thread and this is the perfect photo to see what a leaking regulator on a Vin W CPI injector does,

Check it out;

See the clean spots, that is leaking gas washing the plenum. This is bad.

No leaks and the whole thing would be very dirty.

Cool

Cool Pic. I've always wondered about what was inside the plenum. I've saved the photo for when I have a problem there. Thanks. BobcatAZ

Using a flashlight and pulling out that center air flapper, I can see that same goldish color on that back left side. Even without splitting the plentum open. I just dont see as much goldish tinge as in the pit. But I bet mine is leaking too. Thanks for pit Blazer.

Question

BlazerLT, When you saw this other thread did they say anything about why they took the plenum apart? Did they see a drop in gas mileage or performance? Just wondering if this leak caused any drivability problems?

Mileage will drop below 15MPG especially in city driving.

Extended cranking needed to start the engine even after priming the fuel pump when switching the key to ON and not start.

Fuel smell in the cabin and especially during hard acceleration.

Carbon Problems with the EGR.

Rotton Egg smell in the exhaust.

Rough idling caused by the EGR or the injector.

It probably didn't hurt changing as well.

They all rupture at one time or another.
