Angry 1999 Ram won't start

I just drove this truck last weekend with no troubles at all. Anyway, I started it in my driveway tonight and then ran back into the house to grab my wallet. When I returned, the engine had stalled and would not start again. I checked all the fuses, spark/coil wires, all fuel injector connections, tried some starting fluid, checked the battery connections, but it still wouldn't start. Turns over fine, but will not fire. Any ideas? Thanks ~ Patrick 99' Ram 360 Quad 4X4 Auto. You can email direct at [email protected]

Doi you smell gas in or near the engine, if it gets spark, it may not be getting any gas for ignition. Check the sprk plugs taht they are giving spark for iginition. It's either no spark or no fuel for combustion.

Re: 1999 Ram won't start

I had a similiar problem with my 97 ram. Check the underhood fuses and look for one that says engine control. They are really big fuses. You can just do away with the fuse (like I did) by breaking the fuse open and touching to 2 bits of metal together and replacing it.

Re: 1999 Ram won't start

if you tried to shoot some starting fluid down the throttle body and the vehicle will still not start. It is possibly a ignition problem..Could be other things but I would check your ignition with a spark tester first.

Re: 1999 Ram won't start

Get an extra spark plug and pull the first cylinder plug wire off the the plug. Put the extra plug in the plug wire and ground the spark plug. Have a buddy hit the key and check for a spark. Like I said, I had a similiar problem with my dodge and it turned out to be the "Engine Control" fuse under the hood. I'm not sure about the 99 model, but on my 97 it was a 30 amp fuse in the fuse box under the hood. The fuse costs about 2.50 at AutoZone.

No i never got it checked out. I'm not too worried about it, although maybe I should be. I'll start a new thread on what happened to me today.

Angry 99' Ram still won't start

Ok, I have good spark and I can hear the fuel pump prime on my 99' 360, but it won't start. I have checked all the fuses/relays and they all look good. Actually, I checked them in other links to be sure. The check engine light is NOT on. If the fuel pump primes-up ok, could it still be the problem? Any ideas???? Thanks ~ Patrick [email protected]

Re: 1999 Ram won't start

If you sprayed starting fluid in it, and your getting spark there is no reason that it shouldn't start and run. Something else is wrong there somewhere.

I know. It's driving me crazy, as I have tried again to spray starting fluid and tried a bit of gas also. The spark is very strong, like I said. I guess I will have to tow it to a shop afterall. I am assuming that my injectors are not supplying gas for whatever reason. The plugs are dry. Could there be some "killer" fuse I haven't found? Could the fuel pump prime, but not supply beyond that? Is there a supply hose I could remove at the throttle body to check for supply?
