94-99 Celicas are pretty damn slow, you might be able to hang with one.

Turbo kit. You can buy one or piece one together on your own for cheaper. With a turbo you will kill any stock of lightly modded celica.
You wanted to buy one but decided on another car, now you don't like them. That's no reason to dislike a car.

for a junkyard kit, not a quality one. Plan to spend $2500-3000 for a quality one

Re: I have this thing against cellicas!

is it a good idea to put a turbo on a stock ex engine?
what else would i have to improve to meet the turbo standard?
someone said that i would have to get new internals or something.

Re: I have this thing against cellicas!

you can boost on stock internals, just not as much. I'd say up to 10 psi depending on which turbo you are using.

Re: I have this thing against cellicas!

it's not risky if you boost safe levels. 8psi on say an 18G turbo would be okay. It's all about tuning and how much HORSEPOWER your motor can handle, not PSI. 8 psi on an 18G is going to be a lot different than 8 psi on a T66 turbo. For turbo newbies, I recommend the Edelbrock and Greddy kits, they work well with stock internals.

Re: I have this thing against cellicas!

edelbrock is by far the best kit to go with. most people usually start to upgrade internals(pistons, rods) at 10 to 12+. i know a few people who daily drive 12 psi and are fine. its ALL in the tuning

Re: I have this thing against cellicas!

psi is pound per square inch. dont compare kits by the hp they say they provide because you can upgrade and tune the kits the way you want. edelbrock kit comes with everything you need to get going including fuel management. while the greddy kit is lacking a few parts(ie intercooler)
