Total Shutdown!! Chevy Blazer Craziness!!!

MY 1997 CHEVY BLAZER IS GOING NUTS!!!!!!

INITIAL CRAZINESS SYMPTOMS:

DURING FIRST FEW DAYS:

1) Engine would Stall ocassionally "during cold start up."
2) When driving on road... Some or Various Dashboard Indicator Lights started to turn-on/off.
3) Ocassionally... Engine would hesitate to start, or would shut-off on it's own as soon as it was turned on.
4) Sometimes after or before engine stalling... Dashboard Indicator lights would turn-off while key was at <ON> Position, and would take longer to re-appear.

Note: As Ignition key left at <ON> position, and (When dashboard indicator lights were off, truck could not be re-started, or dashboard lights would not come up while trying to start car on.)


AFTER A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER... CRAZINESS SYMPTOMS are getting worse:

After about one or two WEEKS "from it's first symtoms"....

A) The heater Blower Fan "started to make funny noises, and a couple of days later", it would go back to normal.
B) Truck started to stall more often.
((*** Making the craziness symtoms re-occurr more often. ***))

SEVERAL DAYS LATER... CRAZINESS HAS GROWN...

Truck started to become more un-predictable, shutting-off more often. Dashboard indicator lights "disapearing for longer periods of time" and truck not wantting to re-start more often.

MANY DAYS MORE LATER... **(TOTAL CRAZINESS!!!!)**

1) Truck won't start now! And if it does... it shuts-off right away.

2) Dashboard indicator lights go dead for ever, they do not return now! and "if they happen to come back!?... Truck will start with trouble and dies right away.

3) When Dashboard Indicator lights are off, and while engine key is on the engaged possition... Automatic transmission's shift-stick "cannot be moved from the parking position", and it can only be moved if Dashboard indicator lights return.

AND THAT'S IT! **** TOTAL CRAZINESS!!!! ****

Greetings Taz, my 97 did the same thing as yours.I was stranded 60 miles from home.After reading posts from others who have had the same problem and receiving suggestions from those more experienced than myself, I replaced the ignition switch and problem solved! Good Luck Flagship
