ABS light always on in 91 Rodeo..
Hey, I inherited my 91 Rodeo from my father(since my old car died), and I love it. Spent a ton of cash on the thing.
![]() However, the brake light stays on constantly. I've been told that this is the ABS rear brake control module.(otherwise known as the 'RWAL module'. I was told this would cost over $300 to replace! Which is odd because my Chiltons shows it easily accessable, just under the passenger seat. And i'm finding it online for around $40 bucks.(Though its called the Chassis Control Box online.. right part?) Does anyone know if this is the type of project that a relative newbie to vehicles can work on? Any help or insight would be great. Thanks. Last edited by Mrit; 10-29-2004 at 07:47 PM. |

Re: ABS always on in 91 Rodeo..
There are a few posts regarding ABS light on. I own a 95 Rodeo, and did have couple incidents with ABS light stay on due to faulty "speed sensor" sending the wrong speed signal back to the computer. This signal is needed for the ABS to respond correctly. 95 Rodeo speed sensor is located at the rear axle, and is easily to spot. I paid 75.00 at the dealer, and replaced it myself (one bolt & one snap on connector). Took me 10 minutes.
Good luck... |
