350cid vs 152cid

tonight i raced a mid-late 80s chevy truck with a 350 and he had a k&n filter, crane cams, flowtech headers, no exhaust, and a mini-spool in the rear end. i think he had 4.56 gears too? but anyways we raced 3 times and i took him all 3 during the 2nd race he missed a gear and revved WAY up and when he let off a giant blue flame shot out his exhaust then puttered down. we thought he blew his engine out! but we gave it a quick look over and no visible damage so we raced a 3rd time and i took him again so after that he was done.

it wasnt like a little backfire putter, it was a bigass 4 foot flame! i mean he could see it in his own rearview mirror with the tailgate up. the guy still thinks his motor is messed up now i think hes gonna take the heads off this weekend and look around.

If it runs smooth , don't worry about it. His engine had such a high vacuum at that very high rpm, that when his throttle plates closed, the vacuum sucked raw fuel through his idle circuit in his carbeurator, and it was WAY too rich to burn properly in the engine, but by the time it got to the hot exhaust pipe and clean air behind the tailpipe, it was time to burn baby! Mycar did the same thing. All the time.
