Hyde was hit this morning ...

... with debris from an accident.

Talk about too close for comfort!
I was driving up to the University this morning and I was cruising on some backroads and I got behind another car.
As we get onto a really open straight part of the road, I notice this huge dog running down this really long yard toward the road.

It was early morning light and I could not see great ... the dog was not really light up well since dawn was just a few moments away ... but the thing was huge ... and barreling down this hill fast. A quick glance revealed no owner any where in site.

... as fast I began to criticize someone having their dog loose, I realized it was not a dog, but the largest deer I have ever seen! ... and it was no running right in front of the car in front of me ... they saw it in time and jammed the brakes ... I was already slowing ... and then BAM!

A guy coming from the other direction at a good clip slammed directly into the poor deer. The guy in front of me was already beyond them and I had stopped just in front of them as it happened .... all of the glass, plastic and front grill of this dude's car landed all over Hyde!

No damage to Hyde ... just need to brush all the crap off.
*Sigh*

The guy's car was really messed up though and the deer landed in some people's driveway across the street.

... on the way back from the University, Hyde turned over 199,950 miles
... came into work to find my brand new Wolfkatz fuel rail and Blitz 850 injectors. Hyde goes in at lunch to get slightly 'modified' to fit the new larger tires I recently bought.

Just another day ....

You're luck man. I know how attached you are to your hyde. Have you thought about retiring it, and using it for race only? I'm sure that you can a cheap daily driver.

Yeah, you really had me worried when I read the title of your thread. Good to know Hyde is fine. But the deer, man. Not so lucky. Well, it happens around my area all the time. Oh well. Late...

Re: Hyde was hit this morning ...

clawhammer, Hyd eis used almost exclusively for racing ... I have a white 88 MR2 as daily driver/beater car. Jekyl I have for dates and going to the beach etc ...

The only reason I had Hyde out is because I was trying to rack up a few miles on him. I am trying to get to 200,000 by next Saturday.

IMy goal for Satruday is to run 11.5 sec or faster WHILE it rolls over 200,000 miles

If this happens ... it will be included in the video (see signature).

I was reading on your website how much you like MR2s, I was wondering what you think of the new MR2s? The ones that Toyota just stopped making.

Re: Hyde was hit this morning ...

The MR2 Spyder ... I've not had the pleasure of driving one. From what I understand from other MR2ers, they are true to troo of the car ... mid-engine, very balanced .. very nimble fun car .... just really underpowered.

As for styling, I think they are begging for a body kit ... but a tasteful one. I just think the look needs something extra around the bottom

Will I ever own one? ... possibly, but I doubt it.

Re: Hyde was hit this morning ...

The other guy was just really shook up and ticked off (understandably).
