air conditioning compressor stays on

hey,
I got an 88 C1500 5.7 350

When I turn on my air conditioning, my compressor stays on and never shuts off until I turn off the A/C. Is this normal? I don't think so. My truck also starts to overheat slowly until I turn off the AC. If my compressor is not switching off and on, what can be causing this?

Thanks,
matthew

Do you Have Electric Cooling Fans Or Clutch?

Do you have electric cooling fans on your truck or a fan clutch?

Try This .

Make sure the secondary cooling fan is coming on, when you put the A/C on, it could be a fan problem.

Otherwise a quick temporary fix would be to just Disconnect the Connector on the Compressor, this will stop it from cycling.
