D16A1 block w/ a Y8 head?

Will this work? I have a D16Y8 head, and an D16A1 block. However, the a couple oil passages are slightly off. Would it be possible to have them shaved to match at a machine shop, or are there other reasons that these two supposedly won't work together. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

If they won't work, then I'd be looking for a D16Y7 or D16A6 engine, or at least the complete block minus the pistons and rods in good condition. Here are all the parts I'd be looking for:
Y7 crank and crank timing gear
Y7 or A6 block
oil pump, pan, crank cradle and oil pickup; all matching the block

I'm trying to get a block that doesn't need bored and honed, if it's at all possible. One that isn't out-of-round or tapered, and hasn't been apart very long. Any parts would be a good help. Thanks again

Re: D16A1 block w/ a Y8 head?

the other thing in noticed different, is that on the back of the A1 block by the oil filter there is a only one sensor, but on the back of the A6 in the same area there are two. First off, I'm not positive what the two sensors are and then what the one is on the A1. So what would I do about the missing second sensor?

no it is not comon,i dont know how your planning this, but if you do it I will be impressed.

can you scan in the headgaskets?

I have heard that the A1 head fits on the 1G CRX block, so if the newer head fits the a1 block, would't they also fit the old CRX block?

the d16a1 is from the old integras right? If so nothing is really interchangable with the sohc d series engines. I think u can use the head on a dohc zc though.

Re: D16A1 block w/ a Y8 head?

yeah the Y8 head will fit on an A6 block, but I already have the A1 engine, that's y I'm wondering if it's even possible. I got the engine for the rods and pistons, and noticed that they match up almost perfect, except for the two outer oil passages on the exhaust side are about half-way off-center, and again the different number of sensors on the back too. Hilikus, you think the Y8 head will fit on the 88-91 DOHC ZC (A8/9 right?)? Anybody else second this?
