Re: Shift lever boot

I'm looking for one too. Called the dealer - can get one but GM only sells it along with the console - $250. Called junk yards but nobody local has the Achievas. Let me know if you hear anything.

Is your boot ripped or just pulled out of the bezel?

Both. It started ripping out on the end closest to the back seat last summer. Then I had to have the heater core replaced and in taking out the console, the mechanic ripped the boot completely. If you find a boot, remember that you'll need probably a fine needle nose plyers to remove a clip in the shift lever to get the top knob off. The boot slips over the top of the lever, after being installed under the console, and is held at the top by the shift knob.

My boot pulled away from the bezel and I removed the metal surround and hot glued it in place. I would try to locate a wrecking yard that has an online listing with other. Good luck.
