Have a '95 dodge ram 1500 V6, whenever I turn the heater on I can hear the A/C clutch turning on. Any ideas what the problem might be? The heat only comes out luke warm and all hoses get hot, along with the thermostat was just changed as well as the system backflushed. I'm stumped why I can't get any heat.

Re: A/C, Heater Problem
the air conditioning turns on when you turn on the heater ? try disabling the air conditioner then see what happens.

Re: A/C, Heater Problem
in certan vent positions, such as defrost, the AC is supposed to come on. it helps remove moisture from the incoming air and defrosts the windshield faster.
as far as not getting any heat, what temp thermistat was put in? are you sure that all the air is out of the system? also, this is just a thought, but the heat/air controls are vacume actuated, there could be a leak in the switch, hoses, or actuator, which would cause the actuator to not move all the way to "hot" when you turn the nob on the dash.

I had this same problem with my 98 Ram.
Good news, it was the heater core. Bad news, I decided to change it myself and it is located under the dash on the passenger side and you have to remove the dash completely to remove the heater core. After I replaced the heater core, it worked like a champ. |

Re: Re: A/C, Heater Problem
Changed the heater core out. Didn't have to remove any a/c fittings or lines, had enough room to pull core out without doing any of that. But now it works great.
