2000 Crown vic/ Grand Marq

My friends grand marquis headlights fill with water vapor and a small amt of water at the bottom of the housing. has anyone experienced this? if so what did you find, before i tear into her car.

also, how do you change the headlights in this thing, theyve omitted that part from the owners manual

Re: 2000 Crown vic/ Grand Marq

The water in the headlamps is a problem. It is due to condensation. Moisture gets in because the lamps are not sealed well enough from the factory, and as the temps change, the moisture condenses. One it is in, it is nearly impossible to remove, but it really won't hurt anything either.

To replace the headlight capsuls, remove the large black tray from in front of the radiator (between the rad and "nose") there are four twist lock fasteners. Lift up at the rear edge, and pull it out. Then you can reach the headlamp wire connector(s) and remove them from the capsul. With the connectors off, twist the retaining nut (large black knurled things) CCW about 1/4 turn and the capsul can be removed.

Installation is revers of removel.

DO NOT touch the bulb of the capsul that you are installing. The oils from your fingers, rag etc will cause it to EXPLODE when lit.

Thanks for your advise on that, i still cant believe there were no instructions in the manual.

As far as the water goes, i figured it wouldnt bother anything, other than me, i dont like the way it looks, it ages the car. Im very picky about the way the cars look. Ive managed to get all of the leaks repaired on my buick lights to keep water out. This is my first attempt working on the big four letter word F O R D haha

thanks for your help.

I was also curious, if there is a setting for the autolift rear suspension on this thing, it goes way to high, and makes for bad handling in turns and it beams the headlights into the pavement so you cant see at night

The Rear Air Suspension is adjustable. There is also a on/off switch in the trunk. If that switch was accidentally turned off with a load in the trunk, and the load was removed later, it would ride very hign.

do you have any advice, or know where to find instructions on adjusting the rear air ride. also, this friend carries a trunk full of things. if we were to empty the trunk, and let the car settle. turn off the switch and turn it on, do you think that will help?

For the headlights, try changing the headlight fluid every 3K miles
