Belt tension wheel came off..now...

The tension wheel broke and the belt came off while the engine was running. I replaced the wheel and inspected the belt (looked good still) and reinstalled the belt. Now the AC is not cooling, every now and then the battery light on the dash would light up for about a second then off again kind of flashing here and there. All of the antifreeze was lost when the belt came off. I put water in it till I buy some antifreeze, but damage did the belt do by coming off? Is there something in particular that I have to look at? Do I just install more freon in the AC to cool again? My wife's dad says that my alternator is going bad cause of the battery light flashing every now and then. I own a 93 suburban by the way, help.

Question Re: Belt tension wheel came off..now...

This might sound dumb but did you put the belt on the right way ??
Might be turning the pulleys the wrong way.

No, I followed the diagram that is imprinted under the hood for proper installation.
