I just recently changed the transmission oil and filter on my '99 Silverado Z71, afterward during acceleration at high speeds there is a diesel sounding noise. Some have told me that when I took the O2 sensor off...I might have damaged that and therefore causing the sound. Others said that the o-ring might be damaged. Just wanted to get some more opinions.

Re: diesel sounding noise while acclerating during high speed?
Sounds to me like you have pre-detonation. I'm not sure as how to cure this as my old engine did it after I had my head gaskets replaced until the day it blew up. My new engine does it under a slight load, up a grade but it's because of my tune. Try a tank of 93 octane gas and some injector cleaner and maybe change the fuel filter to see what happens.

A diesel sound during acceleration sounds like a timing problem

Yeah, thats what it is, but I noticed after changing my fuel filter and stuff it helped a good bit.
