Tranny question

Hi guys this is my first post just recently got a grand prix 1986 but the tranny is goin.I was wondering if a 1985 V6 tranny wud work in it.

Aight thanks for any help i get if u need ne more info just ask.

First of all what size engine is in the car now? If it is a V6 you probably won't have much problem putting an 85 in. If it is a V8 you would be better off finding a tranny from a car with a V8 due to the extra torque and horsepower of the engine. I can't remember if the 85's were rear wheel drive or not but if they are a turbo 350 or 400 whether it comes from a V6 or V8 should work regardless of where it came from. If it is a front driver then stick with one from a V8.

The 86 has a 305 V8 in it and the 85 has rear wheel drive so thanks for the reply and my dad says its a turbo 350 tranny i was just askin for other opinions thanks alot
