96- Parking Brake indicator comes on while braking (when car is moving)
On my 96 taurus gl, almost everytime I slow down the car by braking or when stopping, the parking brake light indicator would come out for a while then goes out. Also, there is a check engine soon light when starting the car. The parking brake indicator does not appear during startup. Sometimes, it appears when I'm turning the car. Any idea what's going on?

Well my 96 Windstar..( a glorified steal of parts to make a van from a Taurus) has a real sensitive/finicky brake fluid sensor in the resevoir and if not topped up with the "Ford" not DOT 3 or 4 (their own..grrrr... best play safe) it makes the ABS or emergency brake warning light come on! Try that for a quick check/fix , worked on mine and countless others with Windstars (as per the forum) And, the engine warning light could be a number of things may want to take it to a Parts Source store or similar place to get a free check done on the engine code that it's sending! My light comes on when under tow or similar.. also Ford stated that if the gas cap is not tightned properly at refill then the pressure can set off a warning light. Good luck |

Ive had that problem. The parking break pedal does not return all the way to its seat and the switch is located there. The next time it comes on, check the pedal be holding it back with your left foot. Practice this at rest.
