Map Lights
I recently purchased a 95 Blazer. The map lights only work when the ignition is on (On my 95 Surburban they work all the time). Is this normal? How can I rewire them to work on demand?
Thanks! |

I would think just to run the power wires straight to the battery, instead of the switch. I have an AA in Science of Electronics Technology, so in my opinion, running it straight to power instead of through a switch would be the way to do it. |

Re: Map Lights
I can wire the fuse to an always hot wire, but I don't know which fuse connects to the lights and if there are other componenets of the same fuse which need to be off when the ignition is off. Has any one else had this problem?

do you have a stock radio? if you do, that means your not using much current for your deck, and you can splice into the memory cable of the stereo. that is always fused and connected to the battery. just a thought.

Re: Map Lights
I would honestly not recommend you start messing with the Blazer's wiring or it could very easily bite you in the but in the long run.

I agree messing with the wiring is very very dangerous, not to mention if you mess something up, it will cost thousands, but lets face it, you love your car and I love mine, and we are all going to do things to modify our cars. So, I'm just offering suggestions. There is nothing wrong with that.

Nor was I attacking your advice, I was only giving my opinion.

Re: Map Lights
You could wire them to any dome light... The lights turned on by opening the door all have a constant 12v (whether the car is on or not). The dome lights are turned on by a switched ground. All you have to do is splice one of the power wires of one of these lights (the wire's probably orange), and use that power source instead of the original.
