AFC vs 3SGTE?
I never really got a straight answer on this, but why is everyone so against the AFC on the 3SGTE? i know the differences between it and a stand-alone and fully understand... But many other people use them.. Im only looking to make around 320hp. Anyone?

Re: AFC vs 3SGTE?
The SAFC is fine on most cars ... on the MR2 it poses some problems since we have such an aggressively set up ECU.
To get "power" out of the SAFC, it is used to lean fuel out. It leans fuel out by lying to the ECU that less air is coming in so the ECU sends less fuel. The problem is, on the 3SGTE, when the ECU senses less air it also advances timing .... to give you more power. Less fuel + advanced timing = blown up engine The SAFC can be used within reason the MR2 ... obviously I have been using one for well over 2 years now and I haven't blown up

Re: AFC vs 3SGTE?
I realize its just an AFC, but after im done setting up my car, should i take it somewhere and have them tune it?
Problem is, one of my injectors is dead, and im getting 550's out of my buddy's supra for free, so what better time then now to put em in. Now i have to buy an AFC to calm those bitches down... And im making sure leaning it out a tad so i dont run super rich wont hurt my motor.

Re: AFC vs 3SGTE?
If you just drop the 550s in you are going to have problems ... you are going to run extremely rich and the SAFC alone will NOT be able to safely lean it out.
You will need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to bring down your base-dile FP to control those injectors. See here: www.trueleo.com/fpr.htm If you are not at 280 rwhp or more ... it will be a detriment to go to those injectors. I do NOT recommend it. As for tuning your SAFC, you will either need to pay for dyno time or buy a wideband O2 set up. I have my Wideband set up for sale ~ see next post:

Re: AFC vs 3SGTE?
I am headed a different direction with Hyde's tuning, so I do not need the LM1 meter/sensor/software that I bought.
This is basically new ... less than 20 miles on it. $300 + shipping (non-negotiable). This can be used in car for real-time tuning or hook it up to a laptop and view your data! See it here: http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/lm1.php You will need to buy a new bung & plug ($8) for the O2 sensor here: http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/x...me.php?cat=250

Re: AFC vs 3SGTE?
klohiq, Hyde will be used for drag racing, Solo 1 hill climbs and Solo II autocrosses ... the light weight rims I just bought are drag racing specific ... they could not be used on a course with turns.
I should hopefully be getting another set of light weight race rims and race tires for the twisties as well. Wheels & tires will be the only thing changed on the car from venue to venue.
