exhaust Mods

Has anyone done EX modifications to their Aurora? I was thinking about swapping the stock mufflers for dynomax or magnaflows. are these worth the cost? will it effect the fuel economy?
thanks

Re: exhaust Mods

I have magnaflow mufflers on mine -- well worth the cost. The sound isn't too loud, and fuel economy wasn't affected at all as far as I can tell.

Re: exhaust Mods

It's a deep tone --- like what a v8 should normally sound. I'd never let my car sound like a mini go-kart!!!

Re: exhaust Mods

to be honest -- can't remember what model, as my paper work is lost somewhere in all the other paperwork for my car in my girlfriend's stash. I'll try to find it later this weekend. I had my front breakpads put on with the mufflers, and that total cost was around 400.

Re: exhaust Mods

I know it sounds lame but you wouldn't believe your ears if you heard it yourself. I put 12" glasspacks on mine. I saw a guy have it done on his '02 LS and I was totally amazed at how clean and throaty it sounded so I figured a 4.0 Aurora could only sound better. I was right. Close your eyes, think about a new Z28, open your eyes and see a front wheel drive car. If the radio's on, you can barely tell a difference. Mileage hasn't changed, if anything it's gone up about 1/2 a point. You will, however, have lots of girls in boys clothes driving Civics staring you down. Feel free to laugh. Total cost from the 'Y' pipe with hangers, $78. I'm still in the design stage on the tips.

Your SES light will come on! 95 and up cars are OBDII and have o2 sensors in front and behind the cat. I know of o2 simsulators for F-bodies not sure if they'll work on the northstars?
