I'm new to the forum and have a question about a noise my car has in the morning on startup. As I begin to drive and turn left, I get a whining noise, similar to a power steering pump that needs fluid. When I straighten the wheel the noise is still there, but not as severe. As the car warms up after 5 or so minutes driving, the noise subsides. I have two problems. 1) Any idea what the noise is? and 2) WHERE is the power steering pump and fluid reservoir? I've look all over and can't find it. Remember, there's no such thing as a dumb question. I have a 99 GP GTP with 208000 miles. I love this car. I have owned 30 cars in my fifty years, but this car is the best I've ever had. I do a 100 mile a day commute and she has never failed me. I have used Amsoil oil and filters and trans fluid since 4000 miles and it runs as well and fast as the day I bought it. The only thing I've replaced are front hubs (twice), tie rods, struts, a lot of tires and brakes and 2 tune-ups. Thanks for any advice!

Re: power steering pump noise???
Follow the belt. You only have one of them. In back passenger side.
Never had anyone ask that before. But I have GM do oil changes on all my cars. They never seem to check the PS. Good luck

The P/S pump is below and kind of behind the alternator to get to the P/S dip stick.

Re: power steering pump noise???
try taking the pressure valve out of the pump and cleaning it. The pressure valve is where the pressure line hooks into the pump, and can get clogged with debris and stop working properly.
