TPI swap from TBI
I have a chance to buy a complete (incl CPU) TPI from a 305. I want to put it onto my 91 GMC truck (also 305). The bolt up is easy enough, but can I use my stock CPU or do I need the one from the donor car (camaro)?

Re: TPI swap from TBI
It used to be an 89, but the back half is unrecognizable.

the doner car's ecm wont work unless you change the entire engine harness in your truck. your truck uses a MAP sensor, while the camaro used a MAF sensor, and the camaro also has a VATS set-up. but you can use the existing ecm in your truck and use the existing harness, just bolt everything up, and fine an un-used vacuum port and plug in your MAP sensor. that should work for ya

oh ya, you'll also need to change out your fuel pump for one that is designed for port injection and has an output of atleast 45 psi. the fuel pump that is desiged for that camaro should mount right in place of the the one in your truck without any fabrication. and you may need a longer tv cable and or a longer throttle cable, but i'm not sure
