Can you replace an Auto-Stick Trans. with Auto?

I would like to know if I can replace my Auto-Stick Transmission for a 2000 Stratus ES (2.5 L) with a ordinary Automatic Transmission? I have been getting quotes for transmissions, but none of the re-sellers seem to have any with the Auto Stick feature, they claim it will still fit a 2.5 L 2000 Stratus, I just don't wanna buy anything I can't use... ANy help is appreciated.

Thnx.

Re: Can you replace an Auto-Stick Trans. with Auto?

Just wondering, why would you want to get rid of autostick?

I belive that the transmissions are the same, for the autostick v. regular auto. The differences are the gauges, the Transmission Control Module, and the shifter itself. You could convert your car, yourself, for fairly cheap, and unless you don't have a problem with your current tranny.. it should work fine..

The funny part is i want to turn my 2000 Stratus into an autostick car. When you get a converison (either buy a shop or by yourself) I would love to buy the parts off of you (ask to keep them). Name your price.
