1995 Rodeo hesitation

I have a 1995 Rodeo with about 160K miles on it. When I am on the highway and step on the gas, I feel jerking/hesitation. The jerking/hesitation goes on for a few seconds and stops. It seems like it only happens when I step on the gas or give the car more gas. When I am cruising along at 60 mph it is fine until I step on the gas to pass someone, then the hesitation kicks in.

Do I need new fuel filters? What could be causing this?

How long has it been since the Plugs and wires were changed?

It could be a Fuel Filter if you haven't changed in a while.

Although it runs fine at a steady sixty mph when you step on it the wires or plugs may be breaking down due to the increased load.

Hope that helps

Mike

Re: 1995 Rodeo hesitation

could be that, or dirty injectors or a weak electrically system

I just had a tune up and had all the spark plugs changed about 2 weeks ago. I have never changed out the spark plug wires yet in the car.

Could this be a transmission problem? I seems to be happening at speeds above 40 mph. Lower than that it is fine.

How much does it costs to clean out the fuel injectors?

I was under the impression that if the fuel injectors were dirty, the ECM would pick up a lean condition and store a fault code. Am I wrong?

I had the spark plug wires replaced and the problem went away.

Thanks everyone.
