Lightbulb Nissan brake rotor life span?

I am a newbie and searching for some expert opinion.
I have a 96 Nissan Maxima I bought brand new. After about 6 years the front brakes pads worn out at around 60,000 miles, so I went to Brakes plus and had them replaced them, and they also replaced the Caliper as well.
Since then the brakes sqeaks all the time and in about 2 years, the pads worn out and also worn out the rotor on one side so I had to replace both.
When I asked them why the pads worn out so fast and why the rotor is worn out, they told me the pads should only last about 2 years and the rotor SHOULD BE REPLACED ON THE SECOND BRAKE JOB, and for almost 90,000 miles the rotor had a nice run.
My question is how long is usually the life span of the rotor and is it ture you need to replace the rotor with the second pair of brake pads?

Thank you very much!

Depends on how you drive how much you use your brakes 'meaning more highway than city driving' If you got 60k out of your original brakes that's pretty good I think. Why you got 30k out of the second brakes can't say but maybe the stock parts are just much better than the after market parts you had installed.

Re: Nissan brake rotor life span?

I would recommend sticking with the Stock OEM pads, they will last a very long time and shouldnt warp your rotor.

I'm on my stock rotors from 96 when they first got put on, brakes is just fine. i get a little sqeal in the morning but I believe that just due to some moisture from overnights.

Thank you guys. This time after the shop replace the brake and rotor, it still squeaks from time to time, more in the afternoon then in the morning, and some days more than the other. They told me they used Nissan Genuin parts, does the brakes pads and rotor lifes just keeps getting shorter and shorter since the car is getting old?
