engine overheating

Just the other day i was driving my 88 iroc and the engine started overheating, i pulled over to check it out and noticed that my engine coolent was leaking too. do ne of u guys kno wat could of happened, and if its expencive to fix?

wen i look under the car it looks like its leaking from like the middle of the engine, other then that i hav no idea

i once had a leak and it looked like it came from the middle of the engine but it was my heater control valve that broke

I have been looking all over that damn thing (heater control valve) !! I have a 94 Z28...no heat coming out of the heater....so I am figuring it is the HCV...but I'll be damned if I can find it. All other Heat/AC functioning fine. Could you describe the location?

middle of engine...do u mean near the thermostat or intake manifold cause if so that could just be a bad seal
