Silvia_digital_art

Hey Artists,

I have been learning some new programs, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. I am currently working on drawing a JGTC Silvia in AI; it will be anime style. I figure anime is easier to color and render than a more realistic style.

I created some desktop wallpapers for anyone interested.

side note for Lemorris
Is this what you mean by rendering the car in layers. As you know each path is a different color representing a layer. I have tried to create closed paths but I am having problems because a line is shared w/ two objects (for ex. bumper line is the line for the bumper but also the head light) So my question is if I where to create closed baths should each part of the car be drawn modularly (by it-self, like headlight, tire, windshield, quarter panel, and etc) this would allow for closed paths on everything.

This is my anime car in path form stroked w/ calligraphy brush.
It is not finished but I thought it would make a cool abstract artwork showing the pathes w/ anchers.

I just realized I had not drawn the "b" pillar yet, sorry about that.

Be sure to maxamize the image (arrows lower rht before applying to desktop)

How about some PS matrix stuff.

Looks great man. If I wasn't so attached to my wallpaper, I'd definetly change it to one of yours

hey Al, sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Let's take a look at part of your Stang and see if I can get you a little closer.

I opened your stang and duplicated the base layer (lineart) highlighted pinkish.

on the duplicated layer I zoomed in on the corner and used a small brush and painted a little connection line so I could close that fender shape. Yes I could have selected the area another way with the polygonal lasso or something but I chose to go this route with this. There's a thousand ways to do everything in PS.

This layer is your selection layer. It won't be around when you're all done.

Then I made a new layer. Layer 2

I used the magic wand and clicked in the shape not the outline on my selection layer. Then I click to make my new layer active and I filled the shape here. The selection isn't layer specific. I can select on layer 1 but fill that selection on layer 2. Oh! I expanded my selection by 1 pixel. You do this so your fill will be trapped by the black line eventually. You can expand a selection byt going to selection-modify-expand. (That's kinda important. You don't want white spaces).

I moved your initial lineart layer to the top of the layer pallet. As you can see it's all black and white again.

When I set that lineart layers property to multiply all the white drops out and the black is merged with whatever is under it which makes a great black trap line.

If you want the lines to be colored only create a new layer above your lineart layer. Fill it all with a color and set the layer property to color.

Once again this is just one of a thousand ways. I only know what works for me. Any suggestions from all of you are goods ones. Join in.

Re: Silvia_digital_art

THx NOS, Alex, and Jeep_Rubicon.

Thx Lemorris. I think I am following you well.
I will give it a shot and do this. Your instructions seem very clear. I appreciate you taking the time to help me out.

Oh forgot. I am going to get rid of all those crossing paths in Ill. on the Silvia and make them end and begin like the Stang (interior, rims/tires).
I did that because I thought layers meant doing everything modularly and then stacking objects on top of each other to where over lapping paths would matter because certain ones wouldn't have the same color and or be hidden by shapes layered on top.

Re: Silvia_digital_art

Yeah, i know! I thought it was a camaro, just from the lights, and grill set up. So, then my dad embarassed me (We compete to name muscle cars first....) by telling me it was a boss, so then i had to check, and he was right. So yeah, this has absolutely no relation to the topic on hand, so I'l just shut up for a while....
