Saab Linear audio upgrade

I have a 2004 Saab Linear with a 150 watt, radio/CD with 7 speakers. Sound quality is very poor. Has anyone tried the $700 upgrade kit sold by Saab or have after market suggestions to improve quality? Thank you.

I know what you mean. I just bought a Saab 93ss linear with base stereo and it is horrible. Have you found any solutions to upgrade it? I need help and do not want to spend too much money. I only have a two year lease on this car. Thank you.

Re: Re: Saab Linear audio upgrade

I was the one that posted the reply above about the stereo being horrible..

Well,,,,,,I had the car for 10 days and 900 miles on it...and managed to get the dealer to unwind (void) the deal. The car is a piece of *&^#..... the reason they let me out of it was that I was not able to install a separate handsfree car kit that the salesman told me I could originally do.

He claimed that the car had the necessary pre-wiring and all I would have to have professionally installed is a Nokia car kit and it would mute and run though my existing audio...and audio speakers and that I could also use the existing mics. The guy he referred me to...to do the install asked me to check the antenna to see if the top part of the fin had anything in it...if it did..my car had the necessary wiring..if not...I was out of luck and the kit would not run through my existing speakers...etc..nightmare

From what I was being told...the base Linear 93 does not have that wiring unless the Premium package is factory installed. My car did not have it. The salesman then claimed the guy he referred me to was wrong and that it could be done..or retro fitted...I called customer care (twice) and they said NO..it could not be done unless the Premium package was factory installed.

I then called the dealer and expressed my disappointment and told them to take the car back..the sales manager agreed and took car back and voided the deal.. NO HASSLE....I was so LUCKY! I had to drive 3 hours to Palm Beach to return it from Orlando...

They were a bit upset with all the miles on the car, but took it back.

What I noticed during my ten days with the car is that it started to wear thin. The car does have great power..pickup..etc and handles well around corners..But..the ride can be harsh on uneven pavement or brick roads..totally unbearable. The base stereo was horrible. The finish and quality inside was subpar...so cheap..totally GM looking. I am so glad I was able to get out of it.

I thought it would be cool to buy one of these..had 3 volvos..but SAAB is not worth the money...buyer beware...
