a couple friends of mine drove my car around to see why i was losing performance and i got the same answers... "your wastegate is staying open"....which makes sense because my boost gauge jumps to 16psi at WOT but then instantly goes down to 9 - 10psi.....if it IS the wastegate causing this performance drop, how could i test to see if it is staying open? and how could i fix this problem?
thanks for the help |

Re: wastegate problem?
No such problem. Do you have aftermarket boost control? Odds are its set to 10 psi and the 16 psi is a spike. Pull on the WG actuator rod by hand, it should be pretty tough to move. If it is the actuator is fine. Bypass any MBC/EBC you have by runing a line straight from the manifold to the WGA. You should end up with spring pressure, some spike is normal on small turbos. What sise turbo is this anyway? More details.

Re: wastegate problem?
Am I mistaken when I assume you are on a stock turbo?
