Petrol

What types of petrol do people use in their cars? Does anyone know what petrol a Japanese Primera is tuned for?

Not sure what they are tuned for in Japen. Someone here will know what rating they use i guess.
Most of the imports i have seen have a sticker on the petrol cap (in Japanese) saying somethink but they have numbers on them which must be as to what type maybe. They range from 89 to 98 the ones i have seen.
Here though i use 91.(we dont get much to choose from do we....lol !!!)
I dont care what other people say about it, but i have used 96 and i dont notice any difference at all.
The car runs just as will on 91 or 96.
With the price of petrol i would stick with 91.

We have up to 94 octane here. I use 93.

We have 87, 89, 91, 92, and 93, depends on what gas station you go to. I usually use 91 or 92. 93 is like 10 cents more a gallon.

We have 95E and 98E here. There have been *major* scandals about the quality of gasoline (some new cars have been reported suffering vast engine damage doe to appalling quality of gas). For 6 months I was filling up with 98 (they said it was up to the standards), but now that the price has gone up (around 10 cents US), I'm going back to 95 and hoping to be lucky.

been driving my car on 95 ever since we got it... never had any problems... would run on 98 if the prices weren't so damn high!

US octane ratings are and average of research and motor octane numbers (r+m)/2 (you'll see this on the pump).

Most of the rest of the world (including our international friends here) use research octane numbers (RON).
