Angry Transmission Leak

Ok here it is, I had an 87 jeep 4.0L given to me due to that fact the engine was blowing oile bad. I replaced the engine and all seemed to run great for 2 weeks. Then the transmission started to leak out the bell houseing area. it wasnt just a small drip either it would run out to the point were the locals thought i was foging for bugs. I took it to my local shop and they took a look at at while i was there and told me it was the fromt pump seal. I went a head and had them fix it. It cost $350 for the entire job. i picked the jeep up on the 15 of NOV and just the other day while going down the road it stated to smoke real bad again. Of course it was the transmission leaking. I call the shop back up and they dont know what to do. They said they would refund my money if i wanted but they were very pissed off about it. They tried to tell me that i was warned that it may not fix the leak and they shouldnt have to repay me. I explained to them that i did not want to ruin the relationship i had with them and would let them know what i was going to do. I live in a small midwest town and no one around here has any idea what could be causeing this problem. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Re: Transmission Leak

When they had the tranny down, did they look at the torque convertor. It slides into that seal, if there is ANY wruffness tot eh surface it will quickly tear up the seal again, causing your leak. You might have to pull the tranny down yourself, and investigate it. If you find the convertor is scared up, I would hav ethem refund your money, try cleaning the scared spot with a green abrasive pad, install a new seal and reinstall the convertor. Remember, if there is ANY ruffness tot he convertor, it will tear up the seal. Hope this helps. Also check your pan gasket.
