02 WRX mods

Whats up I'm looking at getting an 02 WRX and was wondering what kind of mods can be done for around $1000 that will give the most performance.

work with the turbo, you have one in the rex already so its got the potential for more power out of the turbo. boost controller, and a turbo upgrade would be wise first moves for straight power gains, then you can relocate the intercooler to FM, but that will be over a grand in itself.

Look at Vishnu's website. They have individual mods and also packages in "stages". I belive that 2nd step up with an uppipe, remapped ECU, smaller power pulley for about a grand.

I don't believe that the first step should be a turbo mod. In fact it's THE WRONG thing to do if other components aren't ready for a bigger tubro. There are a lot of things you can do while keeping your current turbo. Other opinions, anyone??

with a turbo you're gonna need the boost controller, ecu, IC, fuel system etc. you can do the turbo but you wont be able to run it at 100%. A pulley set, some exhaust work would be good to start off with. Gruppe-s has some good stuff. HKS up/down pipes are good for stock turbos or you could just get a turbo back HKS exhaust system. that would be a grand.

What application? Are you looking for handling or horsepower? If you're into autocross, you might want to think about springs and a rear sway bar before you start digging into the motor. You can get the plumbing changed, some springs, and a rear sway for under a grand if you're looking for more handling and more power. If you're going for straight power, check out Vishnu. If you're going for straight handling, some springs, camber plates, sway bars, tower braces, and tires might be the right way to go.
