Re: is it too big?
MAKE sure you are using some sort of fuel managment before you bolt up that turbo or you will be looking for a new engine. As far as too big NEVER it will just spool later.

when it comes to turbos... size does matter
hahai love my td04 because its so tiny! and it should spool up fairly fast i cant wait to get everything else and get it bolted on

Re: is it too big?
Im on aol "cjz89civic" I dont use MSN
And size is important (hehe) a small turbo will spool faster. A bigger turbo will spool slower but make more power in the top than a smaller turbo. As far as your choice it may be alittle bigger than you will need but will make awsome power up in the high revs where the B16 preforms the best anyway.

who told you to buy that thing. And you can have a turbo to big! I suggest reading compressor maps
[IMG] [/IMG] this is th t70 compressor map, Now for examle i have a 1.8l motor which = 110 ci this is the equation to figure out how many cfm's your engine requires. Pressure ratio: (14.7 + psi) / 14.7 = so in your case 8psi (14.7 + 8) / 14.7 = 1.54 okay your pressure ratio for 8 psi is 1.54 now that is the vertical side of your compressor map. the bottom side is you air flow (or how much air your engine requires at a certain psi by using your displacement Air flow: (110 x 7000 x .5 x .95) / 1728 = the first number is your ci(110) the second is your rpm(7000) these numbers can be changed to ployt the entire map through the rpm range so (110 x 7000 x .5 x .95) / 1728 = 211cfm your car would need 211cfm at 0psi or n/a to figure out how much cfm you need under a certain boost you take you pressure ratio and times it by you cfm required at 0psi. 211cfm x 1.54 =324.94cfm at 8psi to get lbs/min from cfm you divide cfm by 14.2 324.94 / 14.2 = 22.88 lbs/min now overlay that on the map and you will see the turbo is way to big your not even on the compressor map!! The islands in the middle is where you want to be that is max efficency its like 80 percent efficient which means cooler air you are right at the surge limit it is where you make more air thain the engine requires. Surge limit = turbo death!!! this turbo is for high boost such as 20 to 30 psi on a large dissplasment engine like a supra or mustang.
