loud POP! not a backfire wtf

ok im sitting at the light and it turns green i start going and some dude almost hits me so i honk and get pissed so i goose it and POP! scared the shit out of me smelt a faint smell of some sort but just for one sec and car still runs like before the pop. im frickin clueless. 99 gs

ok thats creepy cuz i jus had something like that the other day. and it happens once in a while now. but my car runs fine though

No way to know without being there, but I Wonder if it was a "rich pop" you get from the exhaust when fuel ignites in the exhaust. They're common on turbo cars that run with vented BOVs and stock air meters, between gears. If thats it, why is it rich? Failing O2 sensors can cause a moderately rich condition. Etc. I dont think it will hurt anything, execpt maybe the cat, so I wouldnt worry too much about it. But you may want to look into it jsut the same.
