she shakes when I brake!!!
Hey all--
I have a serious shaking in my front end only when I use the brakes. I have noticed this problem for a while and thought maybe it was tires out of balance. They were getting old any way so I got new tires and still shaking when braking. haha I thought it might be tie rod--but it doesn't shake when driving or cornering only when I brake. I was thinking maybe the rotors might be warped? The guy at the tire shop said it could be lower ball joint... before I go out and buy... two tie rod ends two lower ball joints two rotors new pads Any ideas?

Re: she shakes when I brake!!!
My guess is the rotors are warped.. Take them in and get them turned, As long as it hsant been done too many times.. Its like $10cdn a rotor here

Re: she shakes when I brake!!!
so you dont think it has anything to do with the ball joint or tie rod ends? Where do you take rotors to be turned? Or should I replace (new ones are like $20US)

Re: she shakes when I brake!!!
i agree on the rotors. i would seriously just buy new ones, they arent that much more expensive than turning and you get brand new ones which will last longer in the end...

Re: she shakes when I brake!!!
yea, buy new ones, but hang on to the old ones, so when the new ones wear down or start to warp, have the old ones turned, then put them back on. That should save you time, money, and make both sets last longer.

Re: she shakes when I brake!!!
im sure it could, but im 90 percent sure its your rotors. see if you can get a micrometer and measure any inconsistancy in the rotor surface. i measured my sister's out a couple weeks ago and hers were off by 1.5mm in some places. it was bad...

Re: she shakes when I brake!!!
just get some good rotors, i heard bad things about the crossed drilled they said they crack, just get the ones that have dimples

Re: she shakes when I brake!!!
crossdrilled rotors may crack but only if you buy crappy ones off ebay. If you put out the money for a good set of brake rotors and pads they are going to hold up.

Re: she shakes when I brake!!!
if it was ball joints or tie rod ends, it'd most likely shake when you aren't braking as well.
