Intake question

I have a 2002 Ser Spec V, and it broke down last week. The dealership is telling me that the cold air intake is caused the ECU to fail and now they are telling me that the computer willn't even give them any codes. has anyone ever heard of a cold air intake frying a ECU. PLEASE HELP
