Bad experience with JDM provider
Hopefully none of you will have the same experience I've had with a company called Motorworks in Westbury NY www.enginereplacement.com.
In August I ordered a Nissan VG30 Engine from Motorworks. In September I installed the engine in a friend's 1995 Nissan Pathfinder. After the engine was installed I filled it with oil and started it up. I even cranked the engine with the coil wire disconnected until the oil pressure light had been out for several seconds. I also filled the oil filter with oil before I installed it. After start up, we soon discovered the engine was leaking oil and was making some knocking sounds. Before calling Motorworks back, my friend decided to get a second opinion from a certified mechanic. He figured it would help his case for getting the motor replaced. So a couple of weeks ago he took it took a local shop. The mechanic inspects the engine and says that it is damaged due to insufficient oil. At this point the engine has been run less than an hour by my friend, who has made sure it was full of oil. Since Motorworks has a six month warranty we hoped they would replace it for us. So we called Motorworks. We also faxed a document from the certified local mechanic. They refuse to replace the engine. Instead they said we damaged the motor and therefore won't replace it. Anyway I just wanted to share my experience with this company. Do any of you have advice about what I should do next?? |

"D. THIS LIMITED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER: 2. Loss caused by no oil in engine or an insufficient amount of oil." Sounds like you got screwed by a technicality. You could contact the Better Business Bureau. |

Re: Bad experience with JDM provider
I read that part of the warranty. But it applies if we were to run the engine out of oil. Which we did not. The engine suffered lack of oil damage before we got it. That type of damge is covered by their warranty.

Re: Bad experience with JDM provider
That's not what the warentee says, it says if the motor is damaged from lack of oil or no oil. There's no way to prove that the motor was that way when you got it, so for all they know you did it. You have no physical proof that you didn't do it, so it voided the warentee.
