Idle Problem

Another question about a 1997 Ford Escort.I put the car into park and the idle did not slow down like it should.I pressed the gas pedal and it still idled way too fast. After cutting the car off and then restarting it was fine?Is something going bad and if so what? That was the first time it happened.

Re: Idle Problem

I have heard it is the idle position sensor. Mine does that after a long trip of highway speeds. I just got used to turning it off and starting it again.
93 with 162,000 miles stil runs great and burns no oil. Have had that problem for all 8 years I have owned it.
