Question Jetta 97 GLX ,engine rattle, need help

Past two months I had thermostat replaced, new spark plugs, wires and coolant flashed. This week my engine started making noise especially when cold, after gets temperature noise seems to be less noticeable.
It's a rattling noise like there was a loose screw inside the engine.
Anybody had same experience?
Thanks
Kris

If they removed the intake plenum to get to the spark plugs there may be a rattle in the brackets that hold the back of the plenum to the head or at the exhaust manifold heat shield.

I just noticed you said GLX so my previous response doesn't apply. Sorry to hear it's the chains/tensioners. It's definitely not an easy fix, but you can get it done for less at an independent shop familiar with VW's.
