Basic Turbo

what would a decent basic Turbo kit cost for a eclipse 00 gs i mean around $500 or more i looking for a brand name and i mean does it iterfere with CAI please tell thanks

There is no way you will be able to find a turbo kit, header, and all the mods necesary to make it work for under 500. A local race shot that i go to said they put a GT turbo mod on for about 3 grand with install. Granted a 4 banger turbo is a little more common and a V6, but i would guess around 2K if you want real parts with a decent drivetrain waranty. Plus you will probably need a limited slip differential, and upgraded wheels and tires to hold all that power. Good luck, and Anyone who has further info please post!

its all about custom fabrication.... the turbcharger unit itself is cheap...500-700 for a good one. the expensive part is the oil lines, wg, IC setup, etc...go to a performance shop and ask. or look for someone who has done what you want before hand and can walk you thru.

yes your cold-air has to go, you may be able to keep the filter but people won't generally want just the pipe if you sell it

you will need:
500+e-manage or stand-alone ecu
100 used 500+ newTurbo (i4- T25, 14b, T28, 16g, not larger than a big16g for basics)
(V6 16g or larger)
?? piping
?? larger downpipe
50$filter
100$ intercooler (smic used or fmic new)
100$ new BOV (1g, or aftermarket)
external wastegate (depending on turbo)
oil lines, cooling lines
100$ +Manual or electronic boost control

and i think thats about all, as long as you don't push too much (8psi or less)

your looking at 1500+ to get the parts yourself and do the install, IF you find good used parts, if not, you may well spend over 3k in parts

Getting a cheap turbo really depends on how well you know your local junkyards.

If you really want to do cheap, you can get an FMU instead of the E-manage, but that limits your boost to about 9psi, as the stock ECU can compensate for timing up to that level.

Doing a custom turbo w/ no idea of what you need is really not the best way to go about it. There is alot more info on other 3G websites which can point you in the right direction.

Not saying it can't be done for cheap, but look to spend around $1000-$1500 and doing ALL the labor yourself. And it will not look pretty either.

i am coming to the conclusion, that if you asked this question, then you probably dont know the first thing about installing a turbo. so it might not be a great idea to do the work yourself

No, it just makes alot of noise. Your engine uses as much hp to power the electric supercharger as you gain. So really all that you are doing is wasting gas and making noise. Some people have the and claim they work, but the gains are usually between their ears and not on the dyno.

my buddy and i built a "junkyard turbo" for his integra. the actual turbo was off a probe, and the intercooler was off an old ford diesel. after about 8 months, and lots of work we got it to work. but when it did it wroed f-ing awesome. we built the whole thing for about $900. most of the work was custome though out of his garage. so blood sweat and lots of money you too can hafve a "junkyard turbo"

junkyard turbo is the way to go. i just made one for my eclipse for about $600. took about a month do to the project but it was definitely worth it.
