buying a GSX

im a RX7 guy, my apex blew and i might have stumbled apon a 1g for $1000 it just needs a bolt on the top of the trans. so i know how to work on just about any car. my question is other then a full tune up what are the first couple of mods to do. how much emmissions can you remove

i have walbro 255 pump, low impedence 550cc injectors(will they work in gsx).

do you need a fcd for higher boost, do they make upgrade chips for the ecu or do you have to go full standalone like a rx7. i am going to put a turboback exhaust, hks bov, a/f and boost gauge to start and what kind of upgrade turbo would i be looking for, i want about 350whp+++ maybe full boost at 3,300rpm

its been a while since i have even seen a piston motor!!! Oh BOY!?!?!!?!

Welcome to the world of DSM's! You'll notice that there is a TON of online help and the entire community is very nice and helpful! So far, it looks like you've got the right idea about how to go about modding the car. MAINTENANCE FIRST! Timing belt, water pump, etc. before you do ANY modding. Check out this website for a good upgrade path! http://www.dsmtuners.com/tuning-guide/1gturbo/ Their forums are also an EXCELLENT source of more technical and advanced information! Have fun and happy boosting!

so am i reading that correctly that the stock turbo and smic on a 1g can support 300hp, what size injectors are stock on a 1g are my low imp. 550cc going to work or are they going to collect dust till i can get a bigger turbo

i havent gotten the car yet but I hope in the next few days i will be boosting soon, i was going to get another rx7 but money is tight and all i could afford is a turbo charged allwheel drive mitsu HAHA o wheel i guess ill join the piston bandwagon again

how much hp can me expected from a full 3'' exhaust, an rx will add 2 more psi and about 55rwhp on 3'' exhaust alone

Are you serious? I don't know my RX-7s, but that figure seems waaay to high. What gen are we talking about here?

300whp is very difficult to achieve on a 14b. 309whp is the record as far as I know (without nitrous), on a very highly modded car (cams, injectors, pump, management, etc.). 275whp is not an unachievable goal at all, though.

Re: buying a GSX

I don't know what kind of injectors you have. If they are compatible with a DSM, you can install them when you have a device to control fuel, like an S-AFC or DSMlink (which the 1g version is coming out extremely soon if not already).

You may be able to run 12's on a stock 14b, but 350whp and stock SMIC ain't happenin. Who knows how much an exhaust will add.

Fortunately, 16g and 20g turbos are bolton for 1g's. You can get any variation of 16g and have plenty of fun on the street, and if you really felt like 350whp was a number you wanted, you could do that too.

FCD sucks, you don't need it. You can hack the MAS on a 1g to avoid fuel cut for a while, and with an S-AFC you don't need to worry about it since the ECU will see -% compensation for 550's. Stock is 450's.

Try to search before asking all the stuff I know you want to know. There's a member here called something like '10.5secAWDtalon' that hasn' posted in a while, which you can search his posts and find his mod list to run 12's. Cool guy.

Check out the site list in the FAQ sticky, you'll want to check out VFAQ and 1000AAQ. Good luck.

Re: buying a GSX

Exahsut mods are HUGE power increases even on NT Rx7s. Turbos ones even more so! FCDs are commonplace on Rx7s, but never used on DSMs. Its a different style of tuning altogether, mainly because we use MASS air metering, not speed density. Standalones are quite unnecessary. You've got some reading to do! Enjoy

is there a difference in the motor, how much power is possible with the fwd with out too much slipping
sorry that fwd is kindof throwing me off but it is only $1000
