Is it possible?
I have a 75 shot of nitrous on my 93 lx. I want to add a supercharger in the future. My question is would it be possible to retain my nos and add it on top of the s/c or would that make my engine go kaput.

keep the boost levels down and you should be alright. your stock bottom end will only take so much horsepower (usually 500) before you send it through the pan. personally i wouldn't risk it, but that's your choice.

How much boost do you plan on running?

Re: Is it possible?
I was just planning on running whatever boost the kit from vortech comes with, I think it is 8-10.

I think if you keep the boost at 8 pounds, you should have no problem running a 75 shot. You could also lower it to 50 just to be sure.

Re: Is it possible?
Hold up, Eli. Your car was the first year of the hypereutectic pistons. They will not take that abuse. I have replaced peoples motors that ran 12psi others running a 175 shot. Those pistons have a nasty tendency to break apart at that cylinder pressure level and won't take much detonation at all. Pick one power adder and be moderate. Or put in some forged pistons and make sure you have enough fuel flow rate and pressure and be careful with your timing.

Re: Is it possible?
What is a hypereutiectic piston? how is different from other year model's pistons?

Re: Is it possible?
Hypereutectic pistons are a step above cast pistons. They have silicon added for extra strength, but they're not very desirable for high cylinder pressures and shatter.

Re: Is it possible?
Ford used forged pistons in Mustangs from 86 to 92 and then went to Hypereutectics from 93 on to save money. They're not that bad on mild applications.

Re: Is it possible?
so would the supercharger alone be too much for my pistons?

Re: Is it possible?
Not at all, just keep the boost reasonable and watch your timing and make sure you have enough fuel. I've seen plenty of people running 10 psi on stock internals.
