96 Nissan Maxiama whining noise

Have a whining noise around the motor somewhere, think it might be the alternator. Does anyone know ? If it is the alternator what would be a good estimate on the cost and the time for a mechanic to put it in?

Re: 96 Nissan Maxiama whining noise

Its more than likely your alternator. Mine was about 300
with a 100 dollar core(so it ended up being 200 bucks.) Its not really hard to put it in yourself, its just time consuming. I don't know what a shop would charge you to put it in, but it would probably be more than you want to pay. I'll find the site with the instructions to do it yourself. Oh yeah, and since this is the Nonspecific forum..wouldn't this post me welcome? I understand that the Maxima section would get him more results, but wouldn't it be better to help the guy and not give him shit?
Kevin.

There ya go. Everything you need to do it yourself. I know this is just the removal part, but the installation is the same thing in reverse.
