Front or Rear breaks?

ok on a front wheel drive car you put new brakes on the front so does that mean on a rear wheel drive car you would want them on the back? or front or all over or does it not matter? for the best stopping power?

thanks for any replies!

Re: Front or Rear breaks?

for better stopping you put good brakes up front, all the weight of the car is pushing on them, while rear brakes aren't really helping you stop as much. Pull your E-brake in the middle of a high way, see what happens if your rear would brake instead of front.

Re: Front or Rear breaks?

DONT DO THAT STUPID!!!! U WILL DIE!!!!
look u do that and u will spin ur way to th ehospital and maybe to a quick death!!
look breaks are desiend based on the weight of the car. FWD,RWD,AWD, have nothing to do with it. where the weight is on a car is what maters. most cars are Front engine , hence the breaks are mostlly needed in the front (80,20)were the weight is at. a rear engine car has less force in the front (70, 30). always change the breaks all around, to balance ur breaks and to get a good feal to it.

BTW if u yank the hand break, u will spin out!! and if ur going fast u will hit something. trust me i drift like a monky but i know what is stupid, i tried it, i slid off the freeway, about 50 out of yard . i was only doing about 55 mph!!! i know how to control my car it a RWD but if it a FWD ur fu#ked!

you Brake not Break (hopefully anyway)

safety wise... yes the fronts will lock before the rears so instead of spinning out of control you will slide forward... To get the best preformance with the Z brakes you should do something to balance the braking force to be closer to what the rear tires can handle (bias bar, softer pads, bigger rotor, ect) but most hardcore racers still set the fronts to lock before the rears.

97exaccord... go pick up Tune to Win by Carrol Smith or think why front wheel drives suck off the line... then reverse it. to why rear biased brakes suck at stopping a car.

(cough) weight transfer (cough)
