Re: Headers in general
the RIPP headers and the XIRacing headers are for both the 4cyl and 6cyl. AMSS also makes headers, as does RPW out of australia. hytech, which is the most expensive, also makes headers.
The RIPP and hytech headers are long tube headers. they also give you the most hp increases. i think the hytech are about $1700 and RIPP is $1200 for the V6 and $700 for the 4cyl. AMSS, XIRacing are both short tube headers. they will not give you the big hp increases like hytech and RIPP. but they are prices around $500. as for the RPW, i dont know how much they are and i dont know if they are long tube or short tube |

Re: Headers in general
I wonder if the Rip headers are really worth the money. They are claiming that they give you 45 horsepower. Also the stage one superchargers they are saying the Eclipse's are running 350 horsepower. So I think Rip is mis leading people with the horsepower gains they are saying. Maybe I will just go with some short pipe headers for half the price.

Re: Headers in general
i believe the headers are about right. the do give about 40hp. but on the site, they claim that the stage one supercharger will give you 350hp. well technically that is correct, but the 350hp is to the crank and not to the wheels

Re: Headers in general
Its hard to believe that some headers are going to give you 45 horsepower. I will believe that when someone buys them and tells me that. Most headers say they give you 35 horse anyways. So for 600.00 more dollars you are only getting 10 more horsepower from Ripp

Re: Headers in general
ok...there are two types of headers, short tube and long tube. the long tube headers, RIPP and hytech, are the expensive ones. and they will give you about 40hp. the short tube headers, XIR and AMSS, are the cheap ones around $500. they will give you about 20hp. i havent seen one company with short tube headers claim that theirs will give you 35hp.

Re: Headers in general
I am more interested in people that have bought headers and their feedback then I am interested about what the different websites say. I think thats the best way to find out about things that you want for your car. I have seen a lot of websites that sell short tube headers and the standard horsepower gain is 35.

Re: Headers in general
here is a couple of pages with eclipses with different mods. check out the ones with headers and that will let you know. remember that a stock 5spd GT is around 170hp and a stock sporty GT is around 145-150. and i think the RS/GS is about 117

Re: Headers in general
The last I checked the 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Gt's were 210 horsepower. Where did you get 170 hp from?

170 is hp at the wheels.. GTs are 200 at the crank.
