DRL's are out

Hello everyone,

Truck is a 2000 Silverado LT 6.0

I had the driver side daytime running light go out on me. I went ahead and replaced both sides. Now neither side works.
1. I double checked the bulb size/part number and made sure I had the right bulbs
2. I checked the 10A fuse and replaced it with a new one. No luck so I put the old one back in. I put a test light to the light socket and I am not getting any power to the bulb with either fuse.
3. I am now guessing that the gray relay is out?

Any other ideas? If it is the relay does the local parts house stock this or is it a dealer item?

Thanks

How are you checking your drl's? The only time they come on is if you have it in gear without the parking brake set. This got me at first, but i pulled up to a store and could see in the window that when I set my parking brake the drl went out and when I put into park they went out also.

IF you think the relay is faulty, remove and use the one for the horn in its place to check them out, then when you find the problem, just put them back like they were. I've pulled my relay, I'm not fond of drl's.

Thank you Rustcal!!! I thought the lights were on when the truck's ignition was in the run position. I put it in Drive and there was light. Amen.

It always amazes me that I can rebuild an engine and 9/10 times not have a single problem. But change a few light bulbs and I'm lost.

Thanks again.

I´m looking for the DRL sockets to put on my truck, they are very hard to find, would you consider getting them off your truck?

Re: DRL's are out

Well, I would, but right now I've hooked the lights up to an alternating flash-pattern box to add to my strobes. But if you can find some of those plugs, and they won't let moisture in my light, I might just do that.

Well how about we trade? I´ll post a picture tomorrow of the plugs that I have to see if you like the idea, they have th same connector as the socket, just no lights

I'll take some pics of my harnesses also. I have cut the "hot" wire on both of them so I could hook that box to it, but I will fix it if we decide to trade.
