what kind of engine should I get?

i'm new.... okay, heres my problem. I have to replace my stock 1986 2.8 fuel injected v-6, and I don't want to replace my transmition, what would be the best engine to drop in? I don't know much about this stuff, so I need some help. thanks.

Re: what kind of engine should I get?

The only engine I know of that would offer better performance but uses the 2.8 bolt pattern is the 3.4 here is a link to some more info http://www.off-road.com/jeep/cheroke...28-34swap.html but I think that your going to find that for the money invested you still don't have the performance you would like, What I would recommend is selling your car and buying a v8 car or even a 3.8 F-body are very quick especially when compared to third gen v6's.

Personally, I'd replace both.

What transmission do you have right now?
