98 Pontiac Grand Am start problems

I have a 98 Pontiac Grand Am Se. Im noticing that when i turn on my ignition switch to turn on the car it doesnt seem to start until i turn it on again and give it gas it will start. Whats the problem?

Does the car turn over at all the first time you try to start it?
