Question 00 Grand Caravan Sport Hesitates when trying to start

I have a 2000 Grand Caravan Sport and it has recently started to hesitate when starting. Often need to try 2 or 3 times before it will turn over and when it does, there is a strong gas odor. Just had 60K major service and had new fuel pump and in-line filter put in as well.....did not fix problem. Does not seem to be the starter but I am out of ideas as to where to check.

Any thoughts or experiences by anyone?

Thx,
Tom

Don't know if this appies to you but I have a 99 grand caravan. It doesn't like to start when the gas is near empty. If it doesn't start immediately on the first try (without help from the gas peddle), I turn it off and try again (without help from the gas peddle) and it starts every time, so far.

sounds like a very similar problem, mine does it regardless of the fuel level. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for all the various input. After many diagnostic tests, finally came down to leaking injectors. Had to pull 1 at a time to check and ended up replacing them all. Also answers the lost pressure issue I had at the fuel pump. Van is running well again, thank you for your help.
